St Michael's Well is located on the grounds of Bayswell House, a beautiful 18th-century residence, the home Carmel and Stephen Delaney.

While no specific account survives of the devotions at St Michael's Well on 29 September, the traditional procedure was that a number of 'rounds' of the well were made by the praying pilgrims, walking or on their knees, the water from well being taken as a protection against what evil and illness the coming year might bring.
