Visit to Leinster House PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday, 21 March 2007, the classes in the senior room visited the two houses of the Oireachtas at Leinster House. They were present in the visitors' gallery in the Dáil for a debate on foreign policy. In the visitors' gallery of the Seanad they listened to the Minister for Justice presenting the case for the direction of High Court juries in the matter of the awarding of damages.

The children also visited the National Museum, the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery. The visit to the National Museum was part of the history curriculum, and much time was spent viewing exhibits from the Bronze Age that had been covered in course work. The children were also interested to see items from closer to home, such as the Ballyspellan Brooch and St Lachtain's Reliquary. The Foulkscourt Bell was not on display, but we hope to be able to view it on our next visit.
